D&D is a beloved game that has been around for a little over half a century and has brought players together to dive into many rich narratives and gameplay. One such narrative, which has seen two decades of gameplay and has built up a massive online following, is coming with a new release in D&D. Welcome, D&D: World of Warcraft (WoW)!
The game is set to launch on November 17, 2026 and is available for preorder in the Roll20 Marketplace.
Let’s dive in and see what players can look forward to in D&D: World of Warcraft!

Classes and Subclasses
As is consistent with both WoW and D&D, players will have the ability to choose several different classes. These classes include the Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Druid, Evoker, Hunter, Mage, Monk, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior. In this campaign all classes will have rule updates to better fit a campaign in Azeroth.
Players can also look forward to 6 new subclasses and 3 reimagined subclasses! The new subclasses have been inspired by existing classes in WoW and reconfigured and imagined for D&D. These new subclasses are the Oath of Ebon Blade Paladin, Oath of the Holy Paladin, Demon Hunter Ranger, Shadow Domain Cleric, Discipline Domain Cleric, and Path of the Elements Barbarian.
The reimagined classes are ones that already exist in D&D but have been realigned and attuned to meet a narrative set in the world of WoW. They include the Swashbuckler Rogue, Path of the Spiritual Guardian Barbarian, and Warrior of Mystic Brews Monk.
Species
Of course, character creation is nothing without deciding what species your character is going to be. Players will have the options of the well-known D&D species of Dwarf, Elf, Goblin, Human, and Orc. However, with the campaign being set in the world of Azeroth, players can also look forward to having the ability to discover and play as 11 new species introduced to D&D by World of Warcraft. These species are,
Dracthyr — A species born from the essence of dragons and mortal races, known as elite soldiers who can shift from draconic form to humanoid form.
Draenei — Technological and magical humanoids who crash-landed on Azeroth after the destruction of Draenor. They stand with the Alliance against the Burning Legion.
Earthen — Living stone shaped by Azeroth’s worldsoul. Once bound to their edicts, they now explore the world with curiosity.
Forsaken — Intelligent undead who move through a world that often fears or rejects them.
Haranir — An ancient and mysterious people with a reclusive way of life, primal ferocity, and a deep bond with the wild domains.
Mechagnome — Clockwork-like beings forged with mechanical traits that match the name perfectly.
Pandaren — Mythic humanoid pandas of Azeroth who bring legend, balance, and yes, pandas, to the table.
Tauren — Peaceful bovine humanoids who protect the balance of nature under the guidance of the Earth Mother.
Troll — A native race of Azeroth with many subgroups across the world, with many finding their place among the Horde.
Vulpera — Clever, adaptable foxlike nomads from the harsh dunes of Vol’dun, known for scavenging skill and fierce resolve in battle.
Worgen — Lupine humanoids who can shift between human and wolf forms, unleashing formidable ferocity in combat.
Be mindful when choosing a race. In the world of Azeroth, what race a player chooses can decide your allegiance with one of Azeroth’s factions, granting a starting Renown Score with one of the factions. Or, if you’re a player who goes strictly for vibes, create as you want! (Because pandas!)
All character options will be made available in the Roll20 Character Builder, made even easier with the ability to drag and drop them right onto your sheet!
Factions
In D&D: World of Warcraft, players will be introduced to 20 or so factions, all of which offer their own rewards for your character’s renown within it.
The rules for renown are based off of the ruleset within the Dungeon Master’s Guide. As your character’s reputation builds, the faction tracks your progress and based off of their performance, will pay accordingly in tangible and intangible rewards such as allies, safe passage through hostile territory, and benefits that can only be earned through trust.
Therefore, completing side quests and odd jobs on top of grand adventures could be highly beneficial and could determine how easy (or hard) you’ve got it.
60 New Spells
As any player knows, what spells and abilities your character utilizes can really bring that something extra to the table. So, in addition to the list of D&D spells that players know and love, WoW is bringing in about 60 spells to give your character the punch you want and need for their adventure!
Included within these spells are some that WoW players will find familiar such as Rune Strike, Demon Spikes, and Moonfire!
Roll20 has made these new spells fully drag-and-drop capable for your character sheets, so you can focus on getting into the game!
Dungeons, Dungeon Bosses, and Monsters
D&D: World of Warcraft will invite adventurers to explore 7 legendary WoW dungeons reimagined for this campaign: Azjol-Nerub, Blackfathom Deeps, Deadmines, Dire Maul, Onyxia’s Lair, Scarlet Monastery, and Shadowfang Keep.
Of course, adventuring comes with perils, and one does not simply go from point A to point B without encountering…something. Look forward to the chance of clashing with all sorts of creatures including 50 new monsters as well as 30 dungeon bosses, known to be some of Azeroth’s greatest threats. (Lucky you!)
Roll20 has your back when it comes to maps and monsters! All dungeons will have ready-to-play maps, monsters, Dynamic Lighting, Map Pins, rollable tables, access to the new Treasure Sheets, and so much more!
For ease of gameplay, all new monsters are available to drag and drop into each of your D&D Fifth Edition games with full stat blocks for the monsters as well as the dungeon bosses!
Looking all that is available in D&D: World of Warcraft longtime players of WoW and players checking it out for the first time, are sure to find an adventure worthy of an adventurer! Don’t miss out and pre-order before its release on November 17, 2026.
Happy Adventuring!
